Brand / Sender

CoGo IoT Inc.

Message Type

Operational SMS alerts for alarm and notification events related to the user’s assigned CoGo sites.

CoGo uses a two-step opt-in flow inside the application:

  1. The user enters or confirms their mobile phone number in the CoGo application.
  2. The user checks an unchecked-by-default SMS consent checkbox on the notification preferences screen.
  3. The user is shown a disclosure explaining that they are agreeing to receive CoGo SMS alerts, that message and data rates may apply, and that they can reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help.
  4. After submitting the form, CoGo sends a confirmation SMS to the provided number.
  5. The user must reply to that SMS to complete the opt-in.
  6. SMS alerts are not enabled unless that reply is received.

This is an explicit double opt-in process. Consent is not inferred from account creation, site assignment, or admin configuration.

“By checking this box, you agree to receive SMS alarm and notification alerts from CoGo at the mobile number provided. Message frequency varies based on alarm activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Opt-Out

Users may opt out at any time by:

  • replying STOP
  • replying other standard opt-out keywords such as UNSUBSCRIBEENDQUITCANCELSTOPALLREVOKE, or OPTOUT
  • updating their in-app notification preferences

Recordkeeping / Proof Retained

For each consent event, CoGo stores:

  • user account identifier
  • mobile number in E.164 format
  • consent started timestamp when the checkbox was submitted
  • confirmed opt-in timestamp when the user replied to the confirmation SMS
  • opt-out timestamp if consent is later revoked
  • consent status for the current consent cycle (PendingOptInOptedIn, or OptedOut)

Each new opt-in after an opt-out creates a new consent record so consent history is preserved.

Sample Confirmation Flow

  • User checks the SMS consent box in CoGo.
  • CoGo sends a confirmation text asking the user to reply to confirm enrollment.
  • User replies to confirm.
  • CoGo records the opt-in timestamp and only then enables SMS delivery.

Messaging Purpose

These messages are transactional / operational alerts, not marketing promotions. Typical messages include alarm created, cleared, or silenced notifications for monitored sites.
